Malted Milk Slice (or Milo Slice)

A lovely, moist and slightly chewy slice.  It is ridiculously easy to make, it is literally a melt, mix and bake type recipe.  The original recipe uses Milo powder, which I’m sure will taste delicious.  However, I still had some Malted Milk drink powder left after making the (decadent) Chocolate Caramel Biscuit Slice.

3/4 cup plain flour
3/4 cup self-raising flour
1 cup malted milk powder or Milo or Ovaltine powder
2/3 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs, lightly beaten
125g unsalted butter, melted
1 packet (200g) milk chocolate bits

Preheat the oven to 180ºC.  Line a slice tin (18cm x 28cm) with baking paper.

In a mixing bowl, add plain and self-raising flours, malted milk powder, coconut, brown sugar and vanilla.  Mix well.

Add eggs and butter.  Stir mixture until well combined.  Then add the chocolate bits, and stir a couple times more.

Spoon mixture into the prepared slice tin.  Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.

Allow the slice to cool in the tin before removing it to cut into squares or fingers.
